Holiday in Slovenia today. We're celebrating The Day of Culture. Fun, isn't it? As far as I know, Slovenia is the only country in Europe to celebrate culture on a special day.
Our family celebrated the day by embarking on a trip to a lovely old town of Novo mesto (I say 'old' and its name translates as 'The New Town'!). There we visited St Nicholas' cathedral, the Franciscan church and the local museum. Fascinating. It was a lovely day, warm and sunny, and you could actually smell spring in the air!
As I'm participating in the 'Jewellery Week' I was of course very much taken aback by seeing the stunning glass bead necklaces from the Old Iron Age - women wore absolutely gorgeous jewellery at that time (we're talking 8th - 4th century B.C.!), and on the territory of my country, too!
My contribution to the Jewellery Week today was the huge thistle brooch on my beret which I absolutely adore - it's Scottish and it's made of deer antlers. As the colours of the outfit were rather neutral I added a bright red corsage and my sweet matryoshka earrings to spice things up a bit.

ReplyDeletePa tudi rdeča roža je super! Zelo rada bi tako imala, ampak zdaj v Jysku imajo samo črne, takooo žalostna barva za rožo, a ne?...:-/

ReplyDeleteTele Jyskove rožice so res krasne, izredno prav pridejo kot okrasek, cena pa je bila zelo ugodna. Jaz sem jih kupila kmalu po tistem, ko so trgovino odprli - takrat sem dobila tudi vijolične in modre cvetove. Črne rožice se tudi meni ne zdijo prav uporabne, razen v obdobju žalovanja. Sicer pa naj bo veselo! :)
