Vintage

A picture-heavy post - I couldn't decide which photos not to keep. It's an outfit from a few days ago and there's something rather special about it.

The skirt! I believe I can call it 'vintage' as it's over thirty years old. This precious garment, made of incredibly soft Indian cotton, used to be a dress which my Mom brought me from London when I was eight years old. She went there on a business trip and came home with, apart from some London souvenirs, a gorgeous little dress for her little girl (me!!!).

I loved that dress. Adored it. Once I grew out of it my Mum chopped the top off and turned it into a skirt. Which I wore quite a lot as well. But you know, over the years, as my sense of style was evolving, the skirt somehow got lost...

... until about a couple of months ago when I was going through some old things over at my parents' house and came across - my beloved skirt!!! As it's only a piece of fabric with some elastic in the waist, it still fits! And I'm in love all over again!

It does look a bit shabby from up close, there are some signs of wear within the creases, but I couldn't care less! I wear it with a petticoat or over my skinny jeans and it's perfect! Perfect!!!

There, that's the story. Apart from that, I was playing a little bit with my camera again. Hence so many pics. I hope you don't mind. I quite like the mirror images, if you don't mind my saying so, with all those photos of my two little ones (who am I kidding? my boy is turning ten in less than three weeks, it's only a matter of a few months and he'll be taller than me...).

Oh, it's just crossed my mind, the head-scarf I'm wearing is vintage as well! It's a hand-me-down from my Mum, it must be older than me, I guess. Which is pretty old, trust me.

Another Outfit

I seem to be very fond of 'Outfit Variations' recently... What can I say, there are several favourite items in my wardrobe and they come to the surface rather often : ) ... Or, as it is sometimes the case (like, almost always), the said favourite things just lie around in my bedroom and they're the first thing I put my fingers on in the morning...

Another Outfit

From last week. I love mustard & purple paired in one outfit. With a touch of grey.

My purple tights are not very warm so I layered - I put a grey pair underneath and the result was great - the colours worked well and my legs were really warm. Definitely repeatable! I got the idea from the Academichics - the most stylish group of women in the blogosphere in my opinion!

Another outfit post. Featuring my new cardi from Ness! Same skirt as in the last post, but everything else is different, so it's a completely different story. I'm totally besotted with this exquisite piece of knitwear. The material! The pattern! The colours! The cut! Oh my!!!

This time I went for everything simple and (predominantly) monochromatic. I thought rich chocolate brown paired with deep sky blue and a touch of pink would work well with the cardi's colour scheme and I'm quite happy with the result.

As for the beret, I chose the pretty button badges from Ness (!) instead of my regular corsage. I love them!

Even though I really like this combination I'm very much excited about what else from my wardrobe can work with this cardi. The possibilities are limited because of the colours and the pattern (and the cut, obviously, as cropped cardis can sometimes be rather tricky to style) but I'm nevertheless looking forward to exploring my options.

An Outfit Post - At Last

One of last week's outfits. I'm catching up. With my birthday & all I didn't take outfit pics regularly but I have a few old ones (not so old, they're this year's...) in stock.

I quite liked how this came out. This was one of the outfits which were built in my head first and I wasn't sure whether it would work in real life. Somehow, it did. I guess.

More Stripes

Last week's outfit. When wearing brogues was still an option. Not anymore. We were literally snowed in over the weekend. So wellies and snow boots are on at the moment. Oh horror.

Have I mentioned that I REALLY do not like snow? In case I haven't - I REALLY do not like snow. In fact, 'not like' is putting it really mildly. I don't mind rain, I don't mind the cold, but snow... that's another story.

Which is funny, really, as I was born in the middle of winter. January 6, the Epiphany. And I really like my birthday. Minus the white blanket, that is. The children love it, of course, but unfortunately, that doesn't make it any more likeable to me...

OK, back to the outfit now. I wore another pair of stripey tights. Love them to bits, great colour combination! So many options to put together from my closet! Well, this is the one I chose last week.

Hand-Me-Downs

Saturday's outfit. I totally loved it. It consisted of two items I got as hand-me-downs from my friends. Isn't this just the greatest way of adding 'new' items to one's wardrobe? I certainly think so...

I got this gorgeous blue corduroy skirt from a former colleague who was having her 'autumn wardrobe cleaning' (as opposed to the spring one...) and apart from the skirt, I also got a pretty black top and an oatmeal-coloured cotton shirt. Perfection!

The other 'new' item is my lovely black flats - they're from my best friend's daughter! Her feet size is already bigger than mine (or that of her Mum's) and - voila! - something in there for me, too!
