Absolutely Favourite

The dress, I mean. One of the best purchases ever. Boden's last year's sale. I fell in love with the colours and the style all over. It's just one of the prettiest items of clothing I've ever come across. 

It's funny how much one has to say about a dress, but there you go. I do realise there are more important things in life, though... Like matching cardigans... (kidding) :)

The dress was a tiny bit tight last summer so I didn't wear it, really, I just admired it hanged on my closet door. I lost a few pounds during the winter and now the dress fits like a dream :) I wear it constantly. I'll probably be known as 'the lady in that dress' in my hometown this summer...

I'm also rather in love with my Joules silk scarf and Boden bracelets (close-ups to follow). So many pretty things in one outfit, oh my!

Proud Sister

For My Girl

As promised, the yummy cake I made for my daughter's celebration. It was a Sacher cake, made by the recipe from my friend R. Deeelicious :)

I also made a batch of vanilla cupcakes with buttercream icing (and  the proverbial cherry on top...). These were lovely as well.

And my little girl got some really lovely presents!

Music To My Heart

Our local music school orchestras traditionally perform on the town square at the end of each school year. My family and I spent a lovely afternoon listening to young artists and music lovers - nothing beats a great tune for chasing away the blues!

I'm afraid I haven't brought my camera to the event - I prefer to listen to music rather than take photos, to be honest, so here's last year's photo from our music school website - just to give you an idea :) You can see my husband in the front row - green T-shirt, beard & glasses. My First - Work In Progress

I'm currently working on my very first crochet blanket - yay! It will be something similar to the one on the photo, borrowed from my very favourite crochet blogger Lucy from Attic24. I hope she doesn't mind :)

I've already finished making the squares - ten colours, four squares each. I have to sew them together and make the border - you will definitely get to see the final result! I'm really excited...

Big Thing

A few weeks ago we had a big family celebration when my little girl received her First Holy Communion. We had all been prepared for a lovely sunny Sunday and were very much surprised with extremely low temperatures and a snow forecast (!) - the last weekend in May! I still went with my original idea and wore this pretty silk dress from Boden (clearance rack, it cost me thirty quid, yay!) and I luckily discovered that my Ness tweed blazer was a perfect match. Enjoy!

Birthdays By The Riverside

The other weekend we spent a lovely afternoon at a riverside cabin not far away from our hometown. My two godsons were celebrating their 15th and 18th birthday respectively, and we were delighted to join the party. My boy and I cycled to the location (18 miles) as it was a gorgeous late-spring day. Which turned into a nasty cold rainy day in the afternoon but never mind :)

The birthday boys, two brothers, love B-B-Qing so they treated us to a delicious al fresco meal - with lots of yummy grilled vegetables! The cake was made by their Grandma, famous for her pastries - totally and utterly delicious, it was!

We ate, drank, talked, walked, played games and generally had a lovely time - another year cannot pass quickly enough! Or can it...?

Blossoms Of All Sorts

Some pretty blossoms on this pretty Sunday! The weather has been lovely today and everything seems to be in bloom right now. Even the silk flowers... :)

My lovely orchid is going all crazy again (and I'm not very well-known for being able to keep a plant or a flower alive, mind you!)

My desk is blooming (in silk)...

... and so is my ancient summer bag!

So pretty, don't you think?
