Vocabella

I was going to do one last Breast Cancer Awareness post today but changed my mind after attending an absolutely fabulous concert in my hometown, together with my little girl. We'd been looking forward to seeing (and hearing...) these girls perform for quite a while now and tonight was the night - definitely worth the long wait!

Vocabella is a group of six young women from my hometown (most of them live here, anyway) - three of them are also members of our local choir. They are all incredibly talented and the project they have embarked on together is bearing rich fruit - in the form of tonight's concert.

The girls kindly invited the public to step into their world, which is a world of gospel and pop music. The group was accompanied by creme-de-la-creme of the town's musicians, joint together in an impromptu band for the evening - what more can you wish for?

If you wish to get to know them a little bit you are cordially invited to visit their homepage or find them on Facebook. If you want to hear them perform check these links on YouTube. The girls rock!

Pink & More Accessories

Still blogging for the Breast Cancer Awareness (I do love the homophone part in the logo, though, isn't it witty?). Again only the top part of my outfit today. I thought it would look really good with nothing else but bright pink everywhere. Ah well...

Last year I participated in a charity challenge for breast cancer awareness - I made a bracelet which had to include an element of pink - I made a simple string of wooden beads with a light pink ribbon. It was lovely! It didn't win, obviously, as it wasn't sophisticated enough, but it was the simplicity of the piece that I really liked. I'm sorry I never took a picture of it - I might recreate it one day (the one sent to the challenge was not returned, of course). Perhaps next time I should try something like this:

I do hope that campaigns like these make people more aware of health issues. We never know what awaits us and at which point in our lives. My boy has a friend in his class whose mum is in recovery from breast cancer. She's lost all her hair during the chemo, but it's growing back already - it's completely grey at this point and I love it. Even though grey hair is associated with old age, in her case it's a sign of a new life, hopefully cancer-free!

Her youngest son is only nine, same age as mine. May he be able to hold his mum's hand for years to come...

Pink Hoodie & Co.

What the heck, I'm blogging the pink hoodie! I'm not giving you the whole outfit, but here's the upper part - the hoodie & my favourite pashmina. The children are having a week off and since I don't have to be their taxi driver I don't run out of the house first thing in the morning. Which is why I don't really bother with the outfits. I put on my navy blue sweat pants & the said hoodie and embark on my daily tasks in front of my computer. Nice and cosy!

I'm adding some more pink accessories from my collection - Harris Tweed purse, wristlet & book bag. I absolutely adore pink Harris Tweed!

Again, on a more serious note, I'm planning to participate in a charity run for breast cancer awareness in my country next autumn. I had to skip it this year as my running was a non-issue.

Every year I'm slightly more partial to a different sort of exercise (well, choosing from walking, running & cycling, don't get too excited...) and this year I put some more effort - not enough, still - into cycling. Running coming up next year again!

Pink!

I realise that October is nearly over (I promise this will NOT end up as a poem!) and with it ends the month of Breast Cancer Awareness (BCA). But since cancer of any form can strike at any given time I will join the ladies of Academichic in the last October week with BCA colour theme - PINK! I like the idea of promoting cancer awareness in all areas of life - including daily outfits...

Even though I am wearing pink today - an electric pink Nike hoodie - I haven't managed to take an outfit pic. And even if I did - an outfit consisting of jogging pants and a hoodie doesn't really appeal to me as blog-worthy...

So I am following A's example and I've dug up some pink items of clothing & accessories from my previous blog entries. I'd list the pink hat as my favourite!

On a more serious note, though, there are several people in my life who have been affected by this horrible disease. Some of them are close friends, some are acquaintances; some I'm happy to say are cancer survivors, some, sadly, have passed away.

Let us be aware of cancer every month of the year.

Hats

I have already expressed my affection for Hats & Co. on this blog. I have also shared with you, my dear readers, a fair amount of hats & caps & berets that happen to be in my possession. Today I am presenting my 'Hat Wish List' - in my opinion, these are by far the finest examples of head gear you can possibly find. Enjoy!

Three Things

I love this kind of posts! I usually find it really easy to list three things that make me happy at that particular moment as I'm surrounded by so many pretty things that I've lost count. This week's list includes:

- Joules Wellibobs from the Sisi shop in the capital

- traditional Austrian & German Christmas decoration my husband and I brought home from our anniversary pilgrimage

- a very pretty mug from the Shetland Islands, a travel souvenir from my dearest friend

What's on the list for next week, I wonder...?

Friday Black

Last Friday's outfit. I'm still wearing black on Fridays. And every 16th day of the month. I quite like the challenge of putting together black outfits. And I usually add only a touch of colour... hello, Boden coat!

My hair looks a bit funny here, I've just returned from the hairdresser's. My roots were all grey. I'm an old lady, people!

I'm wearing:

- flats - Stroll (hand-me-downs from best friend's daughter)
- tights - Polzela (local brand)
- skirt - Labod (local brand)
- top - Get
- cardi - Wallis
- coat - Boden (never seen before?)
- angel accessories & these earrings

Off to a birthday drink with my girlfriends, have a great weekend!

Red & Green

And it's not even Christmas (yet...)! I don't think this outfit appeared too Christmassy anyway so it's just as well.

Worn last week, as well. The Boden coat is absolutely inevitable.

I'm wearing:

- flats - Hush Puppies
- tights - Polzela (local brand)
- skirt - eK Jeans
- cardi - Ivko
- top - Playlife
- coat - Boden

Christmas? On the doorstep!

Favourites

One of last week's outfits. All sorts of favourites! Levi's 501 jeans, Boden coat, Cath Kidston hankie, pink pashmina, pink Campers... The list goes on and on!

Apart from consisting of favourite items, the outfit was mighty comfortable as well. Last autumn I mainly wore my green coat with skirts and boots, but this time I embrace it as my any-occasion coat; I wear it every morning on our school run with the kids and I wear it on evenings out with friends. I even wore it for my high school reunion last Saturday!

I'm wearing:

- shoes - Campers
- jeans - Levi's 501
- cardi - Zara
- shirt - Playlife
- hankie - Cath Kidston
- coat - Boden
- scarf / pashmina - Kokoska (local brand)
- angel jewellery

Until next time!

Happy Friday, everyone!

The Birds Are Back

Don't birds usually fly away for the winter? Some of them, anyway. Not Boden birds, mind you!

They're back, in all their glory! I didn't wear this lovely skirt very often during the summer, but during this new autumn & winter season I'm looking forward to finding new styling possibilities. Considering that you, my lovely readers, know a little bit about my wardrobe already, would you by any chance have any suggestions?

I'm wearing:

- leather brogues - Zara
- woolen knee-highs - Burlington
- tights - Polzela (local brand)
- skirt - Boden
- brown top - Marks&Spencer
- blue shirt - Playlife
- hankie - Cath Kidston
- corduroy jacket - Tom Tailor
- skinny leather belt - H&M
- angel brooch & bracelet

I'm so excited about your styling ideas!

Colour Burst!

Oooh, I love the colours of this outfit! They're not very autumnal, that's true, but who cares! This was Monday's outfit and Monday was (relatively) warm and sunny!

Well, enough exclamations. As I've said, I love these colours. I got this orange ruffle top a while ago and I was wondering how to style it - I had browns and forest greens in mind to start with.

But then I pulled this purple top out of my closet and I was utterly and completely hooked. And when I remembered that I had a brooch to go with it... the rest is history. See for yourselves.

I'm wearing:

- flats - Alpina (local brand)
- tights - Polzela (local brand)
- skirt - eK jeans
- purple top - Firefly
- orange ruffle top - TwoWay
- cardi - Tulchan
- angel bracelet & Co.
- hand-embroidered leather blossom brooch - gift with purchase from designedbyjane (Etsy)

Until tomorrow!

Boden Skirt - Take Two

... add a fancy pair of shoes and you get a completely new outfit! Worn to church last Sunday.

I felt very girlish/ladylike. Go figure. I really liked the outfit, though, despite not being able to decide what to make of it.

And I looove these shoes. Arent' they absolutely gorgeous? Exactly what I imagine a fancy shoe to be like. A brogue, a Mary-Jane, a walkable heel... bingo, all inclusive! And not the most usual colour ever, either. Must say it again: I looove these shoes.

I'm wearing:

- shoes - Alpina (local brand)
- tights - no idea
- skirt - Boden
- blazer - InWear
- roll-neck top - local shop
- scarf - ThisVintageLife
- corsage - Accessorize
- bag - Morgan (birthday gift from friends years ago)

Once more: looove the shoes!

Time For Hats!

...is back! I do love autumn, oh so much! There are so many accessories to be worn at this time of year, don't you think? Especially when riding a bicycle on a chilly October evening, you can never have too much on in the accessories department. Think of hats and hand warmers and leg warmers and scarves... the list is endless (well, not really, but it seems like that anyway...)!

Saturdays' outfit. My beloved Brora skirt gets plenty of wear throughout the year. And I was over the moon with being able to sport my fuchsia beret again! I just adore hats and caps and berets and anything that makes your messy hair look lovely...

I'm wearing:

- leather brogues - Zara
- tights - Polzela (local brand)
- skirt - Brora
- top - TwoWay
- cardi - Tulchan
- beret - Seeberger
- angel pendant & bracelet
- eaarings - Etsy (ForTheCrossJewelry)

Yay for lovely autumn days (and evenings)!
