Sun Loungers Are Great!

Things for a Great Garden

Summer’s finally here and nothing is feeling happier about it than your garden. If you’re keen to get your garden looking beautiful again, and are ready to unlock its full potential this summer, there are so many steps you can take. From investing in a few select pieces of furniture, to simply planting some grass seeds and weeding it thoroughly, there’s no limit to the benefits of having a great garden space.

You’ll be the envy of your friends with that beautiful, bright and relaxing little place in your house. Here are a few ideas to pick and choose from that will get you spending more time in the garden.

Plant some grass

If your garden is lacking in lawn, then planting some grass seed is a very fast and inexpensive way to get it looking inviting. Simply rake the existing soil, pull out any large rocks, dig up the weeds and plant some grass! This can be bought from any DIY or home improvement store and will grow green and lush within a week.

Table and chairs

If you have a paved garden then a table and chairs are a great way to add an al fresco dining option to your garden. Outdoor furniture is available to suit all sizes and shapes of garden, and can accommodate even the strictest of budgets. Whether it’s durable plastic or treated wood, there’s something for everyone. Garden furniture is a great addition when you want to host an impromptu outdoor drinks party or even just to have a few light snacks while sunbathing.

Sun loungers

Sun loungers are great for lazy days out in the sun, providing comfort and unparalleled relaxation. Again, they are available in a range of styles to suit every wallet. You’ll find it really opens up the outdoor space as an area to enjoy the weather without having to join the masses in the country’s parks and beaches.

Barbeques are the ultimate summer accessory. Again, there are many models available from gas to coal in a range of sizes. If you’re planning to have quite a few barbeques this summer then it may be a wise investment, as disposable models rarely last for the whole afternoon and can rack up the expenses.

P.S.: This is another sponsored post. Catherine, who works for an advertising agency, has contacted me again and asked if I was willing to publish this article on behalf of the company she works for.

As I love reading in the shade of our apple tree, this seemed really fitting. I hope you don't mind!

Jesus Christ Superstar By Bike

Last night's performance was absolutely amazing. Standing ovations and such... The leading roles were given to incredible singers, and the entire musical was just one long moment of pure pleasure for the senses.

Judas was the incredible Ian Virgo.

My husband and I enjoyed the evening immensely. It was open-air and we had a lovely warm summer evening. My husband works in the capital so he set off on his usual commute in the morning, and I followed in the afternoon, by bike (just under 40 miles)! It was sizzling hot and extremely windy so I arrived rather exhausted but I made it!

Definitely a day to remember :)

Bags & Pins

A few months ago I purchased three precious fabric brooches from the very talented Cathy of Dear Emma - a butterfly, a dragonfly and a blue tit. Cathy is an amazing artist, she can do magic with tiny scraps of fabric (she can of course also do magic with large pieces of fabric...) and I love her way with colours.

I totally adore her pins and I wear them all the time - be it on my clothes or bags or other accessories, like scarves (not worn very often these days, though!). Here is a collection of my colourful bags, embellished with little pieces of Cathy's art:

This is a Joules bag, bought on sale - a lovely bargain, I absolutely adore it, it's very spacious and goes well with most of my outfits. The pink butterfly could hardly wait to take a rest on the inside pocket...

The blue clutch was purchased last spring, at a local boutique, and it used to be embellished with some Liberty Suffolk puffs - very pretty, even if I say so myself... However, once the dragonfly 'flew in', this seemed to be the only obvious choice.

The mustard bag/clutch comes from Disaster Designs (purchased by mail order in Slovenia) - I love its envelope shape and the inscriptions, and the polka dot bow is beyond gorgeous.

The only thing missing, obviously, was this blue tit - it's absolutely perfect now!

Thank you, Cathy, for the prettiest accessories a girl could wish for!

Oh, The Places We'Ve Been!

Hello, dear friends, I guess a three-week holiday break should do - we're all settled back home, the youngest ones another fortnight off school, my husband & I back to our working routine. We had a lovely time together, we spent a week at the seaside - our traditional destination - and visited some lovely places in between.

I've given you a hint as to where we've been, I promise to tell you more about it as soon as I manage to download my pictures (I know...). In the meantime, expect some of my personal style preferences for the upcoming autumn season, and perhaps a styling idea or two...

I hope you are all well, I've been reading about your lovely get-aways!
