Winter Neutrals

A bit late, but never mind -
my Christmas Day outfit!

Not really my usual colour scheme
but I wanted the accessories to stand out
(including my 'neutral' grey hair ...)!

Outfit details:

- boots - Stroll
- tights - home closet :)
- dress - Tom Tailor
- woollen top - local store
- coat - Benetton
- scarf - my Mum's
- hat - Boden
- wrist warmers - I made them
- holly corsage - Etsy (Vanessa Cabban)
- red corsages - handmade by Alix from usedtobees
- Nativity pendant - Christmas tree decoration from the local florist :)

I liked the outfit despite the lack of colour ...

Tweedy Stuff

A brand new phone cosy for me!

I carefully use every tiny little scrap of Harris Tweed I got from my dear blogging friend Alison a while ago. I'm quite religious about it, actually, very reluctant to discard of the tiniest thread! I cannot begin to imagine what it must feel like to have yards and yards of this material at one's disposal. Heaven!

I lined the cosy with my other favourite fabric, Liberty Tana Lawn. Same feeling here ...Precious, precious, precious!

A little crochet flower completes the look
- and makes my day, every day :)

My tweedy bliss ...
I couldn't resist taking a pic!

Thank you sooo much once again, Alison :)

Copycat (Bird)

This robin! I'm so anxious for the little package to arrive that I had to make a brother for the tweedie bird :)

I totally copied Alison's design, I'm afraid - I had a tiny little Harris Tweed swatch that Alison herself sent me some time ago. I used felt for the belly, though, as I didn't have any red Harris Tweed.

I made a sweet little brooch, and Alison's robin might end up on my keys :)

Christmas Is Coming

So many pretty things!

This sweet little Harris Tweed robin
was another love -
handmade by my dear blogging friend Alison
how clever is she?

It had to, just had to be mine!
With a bit of luck,
it's already winging its way
to its new home - to me :)

Surprises, Surprises (Including Granny Squares & Liberty Fabric!)

Remember this post? Well, I read the book, it was lovely, and then I thought it would be nice to send a little thank- you note with a little something to my wonderful blogging friend Alix.

This is what I made for her:

And then, about a fortnight later, there was another surprise for me in the post!

I got the most gorgeous Liberty Tana Lawn VW van notebook cover, handmade by dear Alix! I mentioned at one point that I really liked it and there, now it's mine, all mine! Thank you so much, Alix, I really appreciate your kind gesture. It is incredibly nice to have such wonderful blogging friends around the world (well, particularly from Britain...)!

A Wonderful Surprise

A fortnight ago I read this lovely post from my fellow blogger Alix. As I love giveaways and I looove books I decided to join in. Exactly two weeks later (yesterday) Alix, who is the sweetest lady imaginable, surprised me with this little package in the post:

With a kind note and
the most exquisite origami book mark!

I am one happy reader :)

Lost For Words

I have been following Gretel's blog for quite some time now. She's an incredibly talented artist and a really lovely person. I cannot begin to imagine how it feels to be in her shoes. I'd love to help.

Gretel, please know you're in my thoughts and in my prayers.

Tweedy Christmas

Oooh, I just have to share this, it's absolutely precious! All these yummy tweedy decorations are made by my blogging friend Alison from Tweed Thoughts - wouldn't you love to have this Christmas pudding hanging from your tree? I definitely would!

And the birds! All of them!

A gorgeous soft cushion, perhaps?
Not hanging from the tree, of course...

A croft house tweedy pouch?
For the phone? Or the camera?

Or a sweet little stocking?

The choice is yours!
Have a happy month of December!

Cats & Dogs

This photo is a reminder of the lovely summery weather we had - a sure thing of the past for 2012! November has started with torrential rains, many parts of our little country have been affected; luckily, the south, where we live, has been spared so far. My heart goes out to all those people whose homes have been badly damaged in the last couple of days.

Amidst all this rain the sun actually managed to take a short peek at our little land, just after lunch today. I grabbed the opportunity and took a brisk walk round my favourite neighbourhood - close to where I took the picture of this tree several years ago. I'm grateful for my home  - and saying a prayer for every person who's lost it in the past week.

P.S.: Thank you for all your warm welcome-back comments, my dear friends. It's good to be missed :)

Alison's Gift

I'm about two months behind the whole thing but since I did say thank you at the time I guess it's not too late to present this lovely surprise from my dear blogging friend Alison.

This lovely surprise package couldn't have reached me at a more appropriate time - my husband had just broken his both arms and I was caught in the middle of an extensive and demanding translating project.

So what can be better than a packet of precious Harris Tweedy goodies all the way from Scotland? Not much, if you ask me! Add a little dress-up doll and some Liberty fabric on top and you've got me!

Just look at all these lovely colours and patterns - and the crafting possibilities, endless!

As I'd already purchased two similar dolls from Alison she kindly decided to send me another one so that I can dress her myself. Being the kindest person there is, she provided the clothing material as well. So, ta-dah...

Quite fancy, don't you think?

I've already managed to make some other little projects with the Harris Tweed scraps, but that's for another post. Until then! And thank you so much once again, Alison!
