Anxiously Waiting ...

... for St Nick,
he's expected tonight!

My girl set the table
& prepared a snack for the old boy.

Let's hope he enjoys it :)

Out & About

A fortnight ago we visited

We saw the magnificent cathedral
with one of the most beautiful Gothic chapels.

The Pieta in the chapel is a truly magnificent work of art.

I had to take a photo of St Andrew,
of course, the name patron of my boy ...

Then I had a good look at the ceiling. Oh my!

Later on we spent some time in the surrounding wooded hills. Came across a salamander (just spat out by a snake but my camera was too slow ...)!

On top of the hill there was a huge cross and a lovely sign ...

... with a little bell which of course was rung several times ...

Isn't it pretty?

The cross towers over the beautiful old city.

At the castle, there were some lovely shows for the tourists ...

... and we even spotted a very authentic jester!

We had a lovely day.

On A Cycling Pilgrimage

Hello, September, my favourite month of the year! The weather is getting autumnal but the memories of the long hot summer are still fresh and breezy... Here are some pics of our 60-mile cycling trip from the capital to the Basilica of the National Shrine in Brezje and back in late July. Absolutely gorgeous. I live in a beautiful country :)

And I really enjoy cycling!

Out & About In The East

Just an overload of photos from our recent day-out in the eastern part of our country. There are so many beautiful places in Slovenia we haven't visited yet!

I'm happy to say I can tick these off my list :)

Celebrating Culture

Photo: source

We're having a day off. Celebrating with my boy getting ready for his piano competition next week and the ninth anniversary of our choir - I've made a delicious cake with chocolate buttercream icing (more on that to come)...  Anyway, lots of music!

Music In Trieste

A fortnight ago my boy was part of the group at our local music school chosen to perform in Trieste, Italy, as part of an exchange programme. Parents were allowed to join the party and of course, all four of us embarked on an unforgettable adventure!

My boy being exactly who he is, a boy, he does not much care about details (some details, anyway). He told us when we had to be outside the music school to catch the bus and he told us we were going to Trieste. That was it.

Naturally, we thought we were going to the concert and head home afterwards. I'm happy to say we were quite mistaken.

We had a wonderful excursion and saw many breathtakingly beautiful places we would never have travelled to on our own. We had excellent guides and even though my husband and I used to visit Trieste on a regular basis when we were younger (shopping for clothes, I'm afraid), we were able to see the city from an entirely different perspective this time. It's enchanting.

The children's performance was superb, the music teachers really picked creme-de-la-creme (my boy included!) and all in all, as I said, it was a day to remember. And remember we shall...
