Merry Neutrals

Who says grey is boring? I think it's one of the most useful and appealing neutrals. Don't you think?

I love today's outfit. I'm wearing the softest and the warmest woollen skirt, and the flower pattern is calling for spring! The skirt is one of my latest acqusitions (extremely reduced, as the full price was sky-high) and I'm so happy to have come across it. There's more to it than you can see right now, actually (literally!) - it's originally considerably longer but I pulled the elastic up high above my waist because I think this length is more flattering, especially with the black down coat I wore outdoors. I will wear it at its 'normal' lenght as well, but with a shorter jacket, and I promise to blog about that as well.

I'm still very pleased with my new hair-do, if I may say so myself, it's very low-maintenance and my head feels surprisingly light...

And don't you just love my pink wooden bracelet? Another pre-springy treat, I fell in love with it instantly. It adds a wonderful pop of colour to a neutral outfit and the floral pattern matches the skirt... Ah, well...

The Spring Capsule Wardrobe Contest 2010

Jane from The Small Fabric Of My Life has kindly challenged me to participate in her Annual Spring Capsule Wardrobe Contest. I'm in, of course! I've never done it before but I'm sure I'll enjoy it - I bet my husband will be pleased to see that I can go through a week with a VERY limited (from my point of view!) amount of clothing and accessories...

Here are the rules for the challenge that I have copied from Jane's blog:

- Choose ten items of clothing from your wardrobe and mix and match them for five days between Monday March 1st and Friday March 5th

- You can have any combination of shoes, dresses, skirts, tops and jackets as long as it adds up to ten individual items

- You are also allowed five accessories which include jewellery, scarves, bag, belts etc.
Underwear and hosiery do not come under the ten items and five accessories!

- In addition to your ten items and five accessories you are permitted one functional coat, one pair of functional gloves or mittens, one functional hat, one functional scarf and one functional pair of snow boots or other essential footwear

I'm already looking forward to choosing the items from my wardrobe! Perhaps another challenge should be added - in the week of the contest participants are not allowed to purchase any new (or thrifted, for that matter) item of clothing... What do you think?

Oh, how sweet it is to have blogging friends! And from Scotland, too, the land of Harris Tweed! (my favourite...)

I got a lovely surprise in the post this afternoon. OK, I knew it was coming but it was still surprising how fast it arrived. Alison from idreamoftweed made this lovely card. She wasn't happy with it and offered to send it to anyone who'd like it. I did! I loved it!


I really appreciated the kind offer - I will proudly display the Harris Tweed heart in my home and think of my favourite place in the whole world whenever I look at it... Thank you so much!

Spring Hair

New haircut today. Still warm... I was desperate for something new - plus I was even more desperate to hide my shiny grey roots. If I didn't dye my hair I'd be totally and completely grey by now. It runs in the family. My maternal grandmother turned white at the age of thirty. She had gorgeous shiny white hair, though. Not this mousy colour that grows on top of my head...

Anyway, a change. Not a big one, just enough to make me feel better. To make waiting for spring a little bit easier. I'm fine for now. What else will it take to chase the winter away?


On the outfit front, I'm wearing a Tulchan cardi and my Mum's scarf from the local chemist's... My signature earrings are there as well, you just can't see them... Here's a quick pic!

Snow Had Fallen, Snow On Snow

I've told you we have plenty of snow. Want some?

This is the 'snowy mountain' in front of our block of flats. My daughter loves it, she wants to climb it every time we pass it. I'm not too keen on her mountaineering spirit, though...

My husband took this picture after our afternoon walk yesterday. I just wanted to show you that I wasn't joking about the amount of snow we'd got.


I sincerely hope that last week was the final snow storm for this winter. Let's keep our fingers crossed that all those masks running around this weekend until Shrove Tuesday will actually do their job, which is to chase the winter away and welcome the spring...

Sunshine!

We're snowed up to our behinds here but today, at last, we've had a lovely sunny day. I miss sunshine so much! I'm one of those people who only get alive when the temperatures rise well into the thirties (Celsius, of course) - my comfort zone is plus thirty-five degrees... You may well imagine then that winter is not my favourite part of the year!

I was really grateful for today's weather as the constant snow had started to make me feel really depressed. I sat down on our balcony and enjoyed a few moments of winter warmth. Can you feel it?

Agatha In My Home - Part Two

Another lot of Agatha Ruiz de la Prada items - stationery this time.

The mouse pad was a gift to my hubby a couple of years ago (Valentine's Day gift? Birthday gift? can't remember...). The hot red mouse definitely was his Valentine's Day presie for me (he's not too keen on celebrating St Valentine's & he likes practical gifts!) - I love it!

In fact, I loved the colours on the stripy folder so much that I just had to make some jewellery! I made this set - necklace, bracelet & earrings - several years ago and it's still one of my favourite summer accessories.
